334KW solar Minigrid being commissioned today in Shendam LGA in Plateau state through a partnership between Rural Electrification Agency of Nigeria, All on, African Development bank group and the world bank group.

In addition to support economic recovery in response to covid19 pendemic and has launched an initiative as a part of the economic sustainability plan (ESP) to achieve a roll out of 5milion new solar connections in all off grid areas.

The solar connections scheme is a federal government initiative whose objective are:
  • Expand energy access to      25million individual
  • Increase local content in the off    grid solar value chain and            facilitate the growth of the local    manufacturer and assembly          industry
  • incentivize the creation of            250, 000 new job in the energy  sector 
  • Finally, the intervention facility from the CBN will complement to FG's effort of providing affordable electricity to unserved rural communities through the provision of long-time low interest credit facilities to Nigeria Electrification project pre-qualified SHS distributor and mini grid development companies
